How to play Word Search

Read the aim of Word Search, then make your first move. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Check the stated objective.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
